William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup Applications Now Open!
With the 2012 William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup just 7 months away, applications are now open to Sea Scouts from around the World! This year, Sea Scouts for the first time are heading to the West Coast of the United States, to the California Maritime Academy in the San Francisco Bay area of California. This year marks the Sixth Koch Cup and the event, held between July 22-28, is open to young men and women of 14 to 21 years of age, who are registered as Sea Scouts in the United Sates or registered in a BSA recognized scouting organisation in other countries. Two person teams from the US and around the world will test their sailing skills as they race in Flying Dutchman Junior (FJ's) sailboats.
Scouts have the unique opportunity to participate in the same seas that will host the best sailors in the world for the prestigious 2013 America's Cup Race. Prizes will be based on Sea Scouts sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship and winners earn their place in history by having their names permanently engraved on the finest youth sailing trophy in the world.
So 'Be Prepared for New Adventure' and apply now! Scouts Australia would like to send a team to this event. The two team members need not be from the same Group or State.
Enquiries and Expressions of interest should be submitted to your Branch International Commissioners!
